Is Your Marriage Worth 60 Seconds?
Megan and I are high school sweethearts who dated for around 7 years before getting married in 2007. At the time, we both were confident that we had this marriage thing DOWN.
“We’ve been together for 7 years, what else could we possibly have to learn?”
Boy, were we wrong.
We may have celebrated 14 years of marriage last month, but Meg and I were ready to throw in the towel by our first wedding anniversary. It all came down to this one little thing called MONEY. The financial differences that we faced were more than either of us wanted to deal with.
Spoiler alert: we worked it out.
This struggle is what led to us acquiring our brand, The Money Couple. In September of 2020, Megan and I realized that the things we’ve been through shouldn’t be written off as normal marriage problems, and that we could use our experience to help others who may be finding themselves in the same—if not worse—predicaments.
Thus, our Money Couple journey began.
Our passion is to reach people who are struggling, like the wife who is desperate for marriage guidance, or the husband who feels as if he isn’t providing enough for his family.
One of our dear friends—marriage and family therapist, Jeremy Gilliam—said something so profound that I will never forget.
“You don’t get an oil change because there is something wrong with your car, you get an oil change to prevent something from going wrong with your car.”
Boom. Mic drop.
Marriage is the same way—you don’t have to wait until it’s falling apart to seek help and attend therapy. Our mission is to give couples the resources they need to keep their relationship strong, and to help prevent problems before they come up.
Even just 60 seconds can make a huge difference in your marriage.
