Who likes to be nagged? Not us!
According to a new study out of the University of Copenhagen, nagging can actually be the cause of premature death. The study goes on to say that couples who are in high stress relationships because of nagging spouses are two to three times more likely to “kick the can” early than those who have stable, satisfying marriages.
Wow, nagging leads to death, that’s pretty drastic! We want to help save relationships and applying the tips below may give you a few more years together.
Nagging can be a thing of the past in your relationship
A nag is horrible to live with, but a MONEY NAG is even worse. A MONEY NAG will kill your Money Relationship hands down.
Here are three ways to stop the MONEY NAG in your relationship:
- Stop the “Yes dear” – People nag because they don’t feel heard. It is important to acknowledge your spouse when they ask. You don’t have to necessarily agree, but you do need to acknowledge. A husband often says “Yes dear” just to satisfy his wife and get her off his back. Don’t do that! It hurts your relationship.
- Make them aware – Sometimes people who nag don’t know they are doing it. Simply ask, “Did you know I feel like you nag me a lot? For example, I went to the store and picked up a few extra things and you jumped on me about it. I want to keep the love alive in our relationship but it is tough to hear the nagging.”
- Money Huddle to the rescue – One of the components of a monthly Money Huddle is “Needs.” Your Money Huddle is a great time to discuss the nagging.
