What it takes! Olympic Swim Team

I want to share some thoughts I had the last couple of weeks watching our athletes compete in the Olympics in London. They have got what it takes!

What it takes! Olympic Swim Team

“Beth Bruinsma Receives National Recognition”

“Beth Bruinsma of Lake Oswego, a member of the Mountain Park Aquatic Club, ranked tenth nationally in 1977 in the 50-meter freestyle for 11-12-year-old girls. She achieved her nationally ranked time at the Far Western Championship in Concord, Calif. in August.

“Beth was the fastest 11-year-old in both the 50 and 100 free last summer,” said Mountain Park head coach Ernie Glass. “This winter I would like her to win the 50 and 100 free and place in the 200 and 500 free.” Glass has been coaching at Mountain Park for two years.

Red-haired Ms. Bruinsma has Lake Oswego’s best chance for national swimming recognition since Don Schollander, Glass feels. “Beth is within range of the national age group record.”

The Lake Oswego seventh-grader, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Buinsma, begins her day at 5:15 in the morning with swimming, a full day of school, and more swimming after.”

I have to tell you, I know what our incredible USA swim team has gone through to get where they are. They have incredible consistency and determination: up at 5:00 am for morning practice; weights and evening practice starting at 3:00; home by 7 pm; sleep, then up in the morning to start all over again. It is a grueling schedule—you have no idea.

True Inspiration

Thank you for inspiring us, USA swim team …thank you for showing us what hard work and determination can do. You inspired us and we are so proud!!

Watching you gave us a “shot in the arm” of pure determination—we are more determined than ever to help teach couples how to speak each other’s money language. We hope our consistency pays off in that, ultimately, we want to help bring down the sky-rocketing divorce rate! Your races have inspired us to keep writing, keep speaking and keep breaking through to more and more aha’s! We want to touch marriages and families all around the world.

As always,

Taylor & Megan
